The Udzungwa National Park has variety of landforms including rolling hills, mountains, valleys, and waterfalls that makes the park outstanding scenic. Also, the park offers a number of spectacular waterfalls including the biggest waterfall in National Park system in Tanzania, The Sanje waterfall with 170m.
Nature Lovers can explore mountain forests for a number of rare, endemic and endangered species of flora and fauna including endemic species of Sange mangabey, Iringa red colobus and endemic Udzungwa Forest Partridge and Rufous wing sunbird.
The Udzungwa Mountain National Park was formed from five forest reserves established in the 1950's namely Mwanihana, West Kilombero Scarp, Nyanganje, Matundu and Iwonde forest reserves. It is believed that the forests survived for over 30 million years and were once connected to the forest of the Congo Basin.
